In the 2015-2016, we worked with the Duke TeachHouse, offering a presentation on Latin American and Caribbean resources for the K-12 classroom, and providing them with an Américas Award Book Library, which contains all award winning books since 1993.
In the 2016-2017 we developed a Latin American Special Topics Series for the MAT Program‘s Diverse Learners Course that focused on three topics:
- Afro-Latin American Communities, Politics, and Identities
- Indigenous Latin American Communities and Struggles for Justice
- Latin American Communities and Migration
In the Summer of 2017, three MAT students will also take an Latin American studies-focused independent study entitled, The culture of food production and consumption: Peru, Mexico and NC, taught by Duke Romance Studies Professor of the Practice Liliana Paredes.
