The John Hope Franklin Center promotes internationalization across Duke University and throughout the local community. The center supports units and activities that foster faculty research collaboration and global curriculum innovation for graduate and undergraduate students at Duke.

The area studies centers are entry points for students interested in learning more about particular world regions, cultures and foreign languages. They also offer a variety of funding opportunities for faculty and students to conduct international research, acquire foreign language skills or organize conferences and working groups.

While some area studies centers offer undergraduate and graduate certificate programs, others bring students and scholars together for lectures, labs, discussions and research collaborations with global themes.

We invite the Duke community and the broader public to take part in our lectures, seminars, workshops and conferences.
