Courses held at the Franklin Center meet primarily in the Center's dedicated classroom 028. As scheduling and class size dictate, courses may also be held in Meeting Room 016A/B.
Classroom 028
Classroom 028 is the primary teaching space at the Center. Class sizes may not exceed 35 students. Through the generosity of Arts & Sciences Computing, 028 is hard-wired for data/video projection and audio amplification. Instructors may use the built-in PC for showing Powerpoint presentations, exploring interactive CDs or integrating web content into their instruction. The built-in PC is controlled by a wireless keyboard and mouse. Instructors may also opt to connect their own laptop to the projection system.
Other technologies available in 028 include a wipeboard, region-free DVD playback and multi-standard VHS videotape playback (NTSC, PAL, SECAM). A mobile videoconferencing system and document projector cart provide opportunities for multi-institutional collaboration and curriculum enrichment. Finally, 028 is an ideal location for classes that wish to incorporate advanced multimedia creation and design.
Meeting Room 016A/B
Meeting Room 016A/B is occasionally used for classroom use when Classroom 028 reaches scheduling saturation. Given its small size (maximum capacity 14 students), 016A/B is ideally suited for smaller advanced undergraduate and graduate student seminars. Instructors may make use of the room's wipeboard or TV/VCR combo.
